Haro – Logroño (Moncalvillo)

Distance: 105km   Elevation Gain: 1.800m

Our journey begins in the heart of La Rioja’s famous vineyards, where the landscape is filled with
ancient villages and rolling fields. We’ll head towards Moncalvillo, an iconic climb featured in La
Vuelta, offering a perfect test of strength. The reward at the top is an incredible view stretching
across the region. After the climb, we’ll relax with a
visit to a small, local winery in a quaint village
before arriving in Logroño, the capital of La Rioja. Here, we’ll settle in for the night and head to
Calle Laurel, the city s renowned pinchos street, to experience local flavors and meet locals

Day 2. Neighbors

Logroño – Logroño

Distance: 115 km.  Elevation Gain: 2.200m

Today, we’ll explore the unique position of Logroño as a gateway to three regions: La Rioja,
Navarra, and the Basque Country. Starting from the city center, we’ll cross the Ebro River and head
into the Sierra Canabria. This day’s ride is filled with climbs, some of which have been stages in La
Vuelta, and roads that only locals know. We’ll encounter a variety of landscapes, from rugged
hillsides to lush forests, and ride through small towns that reveal the deep-rooted culture of the area.
After making our loop, we return to Logrono, enriched by the day’s hidden roads and views.

Day 3. A Different Basque

Logroño – Ariziniega

Distance: 140 km   Elevation Gain: 1.900m

Leaving behind the familiar roads of Rioja, we ride deeper into Basque Country. Today, we’ll take a
new route, crossing into a valley that borders the province of Burgos. A scenic second climb leads
us to the top of a natural canyon, offering sweeping views and fresh air from the surrounding lush
forest. As we enter Basque Country, we’ll find ourselves among green landscapes and a distinctly
Basque cultural feel. Our destination is Artziniega, where we can visit the town’s historic Basilica
and savor the quiet charm of mountain life.

Day 4. Cantabric Ocean

Ariziniega – Somo (Santander)

Distance: 125 km   Elevation Gain: 1.800m

Today starts with a climb that will get us warmed up for a coffee break in the medieval town of
Balmaseda. Cycling is embedded in the local culture here, so expect to see groups of riders along
the way. We’ll ride out of the forests and into open views of the Cantabrian Sea as we approach the
coastline. Lunch will be a coastal affair near the beach, fueling us for the final stretch to Somo, a
charming surf town just across the bay from Santander. A short ferry ride brings us into Santander,
where we’ll have the evening to explore the city’s rich cultural and culinary offerings.

Day 5. Mountains Meet Ocean

Santander – Llanes

Distance: 135 km  Elevation Gain: 2,200m

Leaving Santander behind, we’re back on smaller roads through the lush landscapes of Cantabria.
Passing around Cabárceno Natural Park, we’re surrounded by rolling hills, vibrant green fields, and
scenic ocean views. We’ll travel through a mix of small and large villages, soaking up the unique
culture of this coastal region. Next, we enter Asturias, known for its green valleys, dramatic
mountains, and wild coastlines. Our route takes us through a hidden valley that reveals Asturias in
its full natural beauty. We’ll end the day in Llanes, where we’ll celebrate with a glass of sidra and
enjoy one of Spain’s best regional cuisines.

one side and towering mountains on the other. The climb itself is a peaceful ascent through lush
meadows, where cows often accompany us as the only spectators. Descending towards the stunning
Picos de Europa, we’re treated to breathtaking vistas before reaching our final out-and-back
