About Us
We created Vamos Bike Tours to share two places that have become a huge part of our lives: Northern Spain and Japan. Although they are thousands of kilometres apart, both offer something we love: spectacular landscapes, quiet roads, strong local traditions and endless opportunities to explore by bike.
Our roots are in La Rioja, in Northern Spain. Having grown up and lived in this region, we know its roads, villages, vineyards and mountain passes intimately. Beyond the famous wine region, Northern Spain offers an incredible variety of cycling experiences, from the Basque Country and the Cantabrian coast to the mountains of Asturias and the Picos de Europa. We are passionate about showing visitors the places that locals enjoy and that most tourists never discover.
For the past 13 years we have also called Japan home during the winter season. We are based in Nozawa Onsen, a traditional mountain village on the edge of the Japanese Alps. What began as a love for skiing, snow and mountains eventually led us to discover another passion: cycling in Japan. Over the years we have spent countless hours exploring the roads, valleys, mountain passes and hidden corners of Nagano and beyond.
Today, Vamos Bike Tours combines these two passions: mountains and cycling. Whether riding through the vineyards of La Rioja, the coastlines of the Sea of Japan, the forests of Shikoku or the roads surrounding Nozawa Onsen, our goal is always the same: to offer authentic experiences designed by people who genuinely know and love the places they ride.
We don’t believe in rushing from one tourist attraction to another. We prefer quiet roads, local restaurants, family-run accommodations and the kind of experiences that help visitors connect with a place and its people.
All of our tours can be enjoyed as small group departures or private experiences. We also design custom itineraries for riders looking for something unique, whether that means challenging mountain routes, relaxed scenic rides, wine-focused experiences, gravel adventures or multi-day cycling journeys.
Most importantly, we want our guests to experience Spain and Japan as we do: not as tourists, but as travellers discovering the landscapes, culture and everyday life that make these countries so special.
We look forward to sharing the road with you.
