🍇 About the Region
Our tour takes you through one of the most renowned wine-producing areas in the world: La Rioja and La Rioja Alavesa. This region has a wine-making tradition that dates back over 2,000 years, with some of the oldest wineries in Spain and a global reputation for quality and heritage.
We’ll visit family-run wineries with deep roots in the DOCa Rioja wine region. You’ll learn firsthand how Rioja wine is made — from vineyard to barrel — and of course, you’ll have the chance to taste these exceptional wines during our curated visits.
Throughout the journey, you’ll cycle through picturesque villages such as Briones, Laguardia, and others off the beaten path, offering a deeper, more authentic perspective on local life. The route often runs alongside the Ebro River, which nourishes the valley and shapes the landscape’s rich agricultural character.
One of the highlights of the tour is riding through the Sierra de Cantabria, a dramatic mountain range that forms a natural border between La Rioja and the Basque Country. With moderate elevation, low-traffic roads, and breathtaking views over vineyards and valley floors, this area offers one of the most scenic and enjoyable cycling routes in northern Spain.
