A Cycling Journey Through Spain

Discover the Camino de Santiago from a different perspective: by bike.

We are developing three different ways to experience this historic journey across Northern Spain. Choose between the traditional Camino Francés, the spectacular coastal Camino del Norte, or our recommended option: a tailor-made combination of both routes.

All our itineraries can be adapted to your cycling level, available time, interests and travel preferences.

Choose Your Camino

Spain is crisscrossed by a network of historic pilgrimage routes leading to Santiago de Compostela, each offering a distinct landscape and culture: the Camino Francés travels through rolling vineyards and iconic medieval towns; the Camino del Norte runs along the rugged Northern coast with dramatic ocean views; the Camino Primitivo cuts through mountainous terrain; the Vía de la Plata stretches up from the south; and both the Camino Portugués and Camino Inglés connect key maritime and inland borders. To capture the very best of these legendary journeys, we are currently preparing specially tailored e-bike and cycling itineraries along both the Camino del Norte and the Camino Francés, providing full logistical support so riders can experience the landscapes on two wheels.

1. Camino Francés

The classic route across Northern Spain

The Camino Francés is the most famous route of the Camino de Santiago. Starting in the Pyrenees, it crosses Navarra, La Rioja, Castilla y León and Galicia before reaching Santiago de Compostela.

Along the way, discover historic towns, medieval villages, vineyards, open countryside and some of Spain’s most important cultural landmarks.

Highlights include Pamplona, La Rioja, Burgos, León and the landscapes of Galicia.

2. Camino del Norte

A spectacular journey along Spain’s northern coast

The Camino del Norte follows the Cantabrian coastline, offering a different perspective of the Camino de Santiago.

This route connects the Basque Country, Cantabria, Asturias and Galicia, combining coastal landscapes, fishing villages, green valleys, mountain roads and historic towns.

It is an excellent choice for cyclists who want to discover the Atlantic coast and the landscapes of Northern Spain.

3. Camino Combination

Our recommended option – A tailor-made Camino experience

Our recommendation is to combine selected sections of the Camino Francés and Camino del Norte.

This gives us greater flexibility to create a cycling journey that brings together the best of both routes: the historic towns and vineyards of the inland Camino, together with the dramatic coastline and green mountain landscapes of Northern Spain.

Rather than following a fixed itinerary, we can tailor the route to each group, taking into account the number of days available, cycling level, preferred daily distances and places they would like to visit.

For us, this is the best way to experience the Camino by bike: a journey designed around each group rather than a standard package.

Camino Combination

Our Recommendation

THE BEST OF BOTH ROUTES

Start: Tailored to each group’s itinerary
Finish: Santiago de Compostela, Galicia

The best of both routes – Cycling allows you to cover more distance and connect selected sections of the Camino Francés and the Camino del Norte, which run parallel in parts. This gives you the opportunity to experience the highlights of both routes in one tailor-made journey, adapted to your time and preferences.

Stay in Spain’s Historic Paradores

For accommodation, our recommendation is to stay in Paradores, a unique network of hotels located throughout Spain.

Paradores are often housed in historic buildings such as castles, monasteries, convents and palaces, as well as in exceptional natural locations. Many combine historic architecture and local character with comfortable rooms, regional gastronomy and quality service.

Staying in Paradores adds another dimension to the Camino experience. Instead of simply travelling from one destination to another, you can enjoy the history, architecture and gastronomy of the places along the route.

However, accommodation is always flexible. We can arrange alternative hotels or other types of accommodation depending on each group’s preferences, budget and needs.
