The Camino de Santiago by Bike: A Different Way to Experience Spain

Follow the Camino. Experience it differently.

What if you could follow the historic Camino de Santiago across Spain, but experience it in a completely different way?

Imagine cycling through historic towns, vineyards, mountains and beautiful countryside, enjoying Spanish gastronomy and culture along the way, while staying in Paradores, former palaces, monasteries and other unique historic hotels.

No heavy luggage. No complicated logistics. No need to organise everything yourself.

Just you, your bike and the road ahead.

At Vamos Bike Tours, we are currently preparing a special cycling adventure that combines the spirit of the Camino with the freedom of cycling and the comfort of a carefully organised holiday.

The Camino by bike

The Camino de Santiago is much more than a route to Santiago. It is a journey through some of Spain’s most interesting landscapes, villages, historic cities and cultural heritage.

Cycling gives you the opportunity to cover more ground while still experiencing the journey at your own pace.

You can ride through vineyards and countryside, stop in small villages, explore historic towns and enjoy local food and wine along the way.

It’s an active way to experience Spain without rushing through it.

Perfect for a self-guided cycling holiday

The Camino is particularly well suited to self-guided cycling.

The route is well established and clearly marked with the famous yellow arrows and Camino signs, making it much easier to follow than many independent cycling routes.

We provide the route information, accommodation details, practical advice and our local recommendations. You can then enjoy the freedom of riding independently, without having to plan every detail yourself.

Of course, cycling always requires normal road awareness, and some sections may be more suitable for certain bikes or riding levels. We take this into account when planning the itinerary.

You have the freedom of a self-guided trip, while we take care of the organisation behind it.

Stay somewhere extraordinary

For us, accommodation is an important part of the experience.

Depending on the route, we are looking at Paradores and carefully selected historic hotels, including former palaces, monasteries, convents and other remarkable buildings.

Imagine finishing a day on the bike and arriving at a historic palace.

Or relaxing in a former monastery after cycling through the Spanish countryside.

These aren’t simply places to sleep. They become part of the journey.

The idea is to combine an active holiday with a premium cultural experience: cycling during the day and enjoying beautiful, comfortable surroundings in the evening.

You cycle. We take care of the rest.

We organise the practical details so you can focus on enjoying the journey.

We take care of:

      • Luggage transfers

      • Accommodation reservations

      • Bike logistics

      • Route planning

      • Local recommendations

      • Support and assistance

Your luggage travels ahead while you enjoy the day’s cycling.

    Your trip, your way

At Vamos Bike Tours, we know that everyone has different tastes.

Perhaps you love historic buildings. Maybe you prefer a small boutique hotel, modern design or somewhere with a spectacular setting.

You might be passionate about gastronomy, interested in Spanish history, or simply want a comfortable place to relax after cycling.

Tell us what you like, and we’ll find the options that best suit you.

We can adapt the accommodation and other details to your preferences rather than offering exactly the same experience to everyone.

That’s how we like to work at Vamos Bike Tours:

You tell us what you want. We take care of the details.

    An active holiday through Spain

This adventure is about much more than cycling.

It’s about experiencing Spain slowly and actively: stopping for a coffee in a village square, having a long lunch, tasting local wine, exploring a historic town or simply enjoying the landscape around you.

The Camino takes you through an extraordinary mix of history, culture, gastronomy and scenery.

And travelling by bike means you experience those changes gradually, rather than simply passing them by from a car or train.

    A different kind of Camino

Walking the Camino is an incredible experience.

Cycling it allows you to see more of Spain while keeping the sense of discovery that makes the Camino so special.

Our aim is to combine that sense of adventure with comfort, flexibility and personalised service.

    A day in the saddle.

A beautiful historic hotel at night.

    Great food.

    Local culture.

And the freedom to enjoy the journey at your own pace.

    We are preparing something special

This Camino cycling adventure is currently in preparation.

We are working on the route, accommodation and logistics to create an experience that brings together:

Cycling + historic accommodation + Spanish gastronomy + culture + landscapes.

We are looking at Paradores, former palaces, monasteries, convents and other unique places to stay, while making sure that the cycling itself remains at the heart of the experience.

    Interested?

If this sounds like the kind of cycling holiday you’ve been looking for, get in touch with us.

Tell us what you like, what kind of accommodation you prefer and what you would like from your Camino experience.

We are still developing the adventure, so we’d love to hear from you and share more information as the plans take shape.

Follow the Camino. Ride through Spain. Stay somewhere extraordinary. Enjoy the journey.
